Sorry I’ve been away for a WHILE!  It’s been a good month or so since I have posted on my own blog (shame on me ), but I have a VERY good reason.  I’ve been tucked away in the Batcave working and testing a new traffic-getting method that I have put together. 

As you guys know I get alot of information from all of the lists that I’m on, and when I come across something that’s worth sharing I try to share with you all.  So lately I’ve been working hard on this traffic method, and I’ll tell you this…  I’m seeing some SERIOUS results from the work that I’ve done.

I’ve put this method togehther in an easy-to-follow ebook, and I know that some folks hate to read ebooks, but I’ll promise you that the layout of this book is no different than me sitting in front of you at the coffee shop.

I’ll take you step-by-step as I show you what I’ve been doing in the Batcave, and you’ll see why I’m getting over 100 unique visitors every day.  My goal is to reach 1000 eventually, and I’m more than positive I’ll get there.

1. Make your website easy to navigate. Have a plan for your page hierarchy and make sure your links are clearly defined.

2. Create a site-map so to insure quick and accurate indexing of your websites pages.

3. Come up with essential and precise keywords. Use them as link anchor text. If you have a blog, use them as the “category” titles and in your individual post titles.

4. Make sure plain text image tags use your relevant keywords as well. Search engines only index plain text tags and not keywords or text embedded in image files.

5. Make sure you have no broken links.

6. Make sure your HTML tags are accurate.

7. The “robots.txt” file should be updated and accurate and not block the Google Crawler Bot.

SHOULDN’Ts

1. Do not put irrelevant content on your website as a way to improve search engine rankings. It will do the opposite. All keywords and content must be related and add value to the search.

2. Avoid tricks and “link schemes” designed to improve search engine rankings. They don’t work and many are just a way for someone else to make money.

3. Do not include “hidden links” or hidden text.”

4. Do not send automated queries. Websites should be manually submitted to search engines for optimum results.

5. Do not create “doorway pages” filled with repetitive content that are used to push users to an affiliate program or other sales page.

If you want to improve search engine rankings start with these simple guidelines. Search engine optimization is not an exact science and the rules are constantly changing. However, the list of “do’s” and “don’t” above will never change.

What website designers usually do is just put your company name in the Web page title tags.

That is fine if you are just optimizing your website for your company name, but lets face it, most people do not know what your company name is, so by having just your company name in your webpage title it is not really doing you much good.

What you really want to do is to include your keywords in your pages titles, because that is what most people will be searching for.

The Title Text usually appears in the Blue Bar at the top of every web page.

Putting your Keywords in your Page Title is of utmost importance.

Imagine you are in a Library searching for a book on Internet Marketing, you will be faced with hundreds of books on Internet Marketing, what do you do next?

You would probably look at the titles printed on the spines of the books until you see the one that looks relevant to what you are searching for, you then look inside the book to see if it matches exactly what you need.

This is very similar to how Google works. First of all someone searches a keyword on Google e.g. Golf Balls. Google looks at all the web pages in its database that have the words ‘Golf Balls’ in the Page Titles (or as in our analogy – spines). If the web pages do not have the words Golf Balls in the Page Titles then it would be a major problem. You need to make it as easy as possible for Google to find your pages.

There are other factors Google uses, but you want to make your site as obvious as possible to Google when someone is searching for what you offer.

So, by putting your keywords in the Page Title the site stands a very good chance of getting listed when that term is searched.

SEO or search engine optimization is simply developing an effective system to bring targeted traffic to your website. Don’t shy away from SEO just because you struggle with technical things. SEO isn’t that technical, it simply involves knowing your keywords, creating informative keyword rich content for your website, posting on blogs and forums, writing articles, and getting links from other websites.

Traffic is the lifeblood of your website. And there is no better way to generate traffic to your website than to rank on the first page of search results. You don’t need to be a techie to get your site on the first page of Google, it helps, but there are many things you can do to get your site ranked highly that need little technical skill. Here are some of them:

Know your keywords

It helps to know what words and phrases people type into search engines when looking for a business like yours. Don’t skip keyword research or guess at keywords. Basic keyword research doesn’t involve any technical skill at all. Simply write down all the words and phrases you can think of that relate to your business, product, or service, then use a keyword research tool to find out how many people search using those keywords and how much competition there is so that you’ll know which keywords you will have more success with. Keyword research tools will also help you to discover related keyword phrases.

Write and submit articles

Write informative how to articles, submit them to article directories and include an author’s resource box with links back to your website. Make sure that your anchor text – the words that people click on to go to your site – includes your keywords. They need to be the keywords people will use when looking for what you offer.

Search engines look at the anchor text used in links when deciding what keywords to rank your site for. When you use keywords as your anchor text rather than your website address it helps your site to climb in the search engines for those words and phrases.

Submit your site to directories

Links from website directories probably won’t increase your website traffic but they will help to increase your page rank. Links from high Page Rank sites are very valuable and can help to increase both your page rank and your site’s authority.

Start a blog

Having a blog can raise your visibility and introduce you to new customers. It’s easy to add content to a blog each day, and search engines love fresh content. It’s an easy way of creating links to your other content, and the more relevant links you have the better. If you are blogging about your niche, and including your keywords where the search engines like to find them, you will start to rank for relevant search terms and more people will find you.

Taking these simple steps will cause your site to rise in the search engine rankings and you will start too see an increase in traffic – without having to do anything techie!

The keywords you select should all be relevant to the content of your site itself. Your choice of keywords is critical so be sure there is a DIRECT relationship between these words and your sites intent.

Close attention should also be paid to the way the words are used within the site content and the frequency of their use. Be sure your selected words are used naturally as would be the case in a casual conversation and take note NOT to use them too frequently.

Overuse could get your penalized by the search engines thereby lowering your search engine rankings. If the need to frequently use some words due to their relevance arises, have a list of synonyms available for substitution.

A keyword density of between 2 and 5 percent is a suggestion margin to target to both accurately reflect your sites content and keep you in ‘good graces’ with search engines.

INCOMING LINKS

Links that come from external sites reflect to search engines how popular, relevant, or important your site is. The more links you have (within reason – don’t go overboard) the higher regard search engines tend to have for your site. This usually results in a higher ranking for your site.

When leaving a link back to your site at other sites you’re visiting it is recommended to use keywords from your site in the anchor text.

These simple seo tips we’ve discussed here today should greatly improve the optimization of your site if this techniques haven’t already been implemented. Paying attention to the content of your site and how you use your keywords will definitely enhance your standings in any search engine rankings.
